Avianca to begin flights between Colombia’s coffee region and New York

Colombia’s Avianca Airline will now offer weekly flights between the country’s western city of Pereira to New York City beginning this summer.

Beginning July 17, Avianca will offer three weekly flights from the capital city of Colombia’s Risaralda state to the Big Apple.

The new route will consist of a one hour layover in Cartagena, according to local media.

Heading toward New York, the flights will be red-eyes available Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and will arrive at the city’s famous John F. Kennedy International Airport. Coming back to Colombia, the trips will be during the day on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

“With the beginning of the operation of the new flight, travellers will be left with the best possibilities of mobility from and to the United States,” said Fabio Villegas, CEO of Avianca.
