Avatar breaks Colombian box office record

James Cameron’s latest movie Avatar is breaking Colombian box office records, 20th Century Fox announced on Monday.

According to the film studio, the Golden Globe-winning motion picture took COP16 billion (US$8.1 million) in the first five weeks of showing.

More than 1.8 million Colombians have gone to see the movie already, local cinema chain Cine Colombia announced.

In the United States, Cameron’s movie broke the US$500 million mark in record time and is threatening to break the all-time record of Titanic.
