Authorities organize photo competition ‘Reveal Colombia’

Colombia’s Ministry for Commerce and Tourism organizes a photo
competition for Colombians and foreigners over 18 years. If you have a
photo that “Reveals Colombia”, send it in by September 17. The winner receives US$5000.

The competition is divided into three topics: urban landscape, monuments, archeology and architecture; people, customs, cuisine, crafts, fairs and folk festivals; and natural landscapes, flora and fauna. Each participant can send up to three photos for each topic.

Photos must be unpublished and be taken between 2006 and 2009. “The idea is to show tourists sites that can be enjoined today”, Trade Minister Luis Guillermo Plata said.

Participants can send in their photos between now and September 17 either by post or by email. Click here for more information on the application process.

A committee of photographers, journalists, graphic designers and officials of the Ministry for Commerce will chose the best photos.

The first place wins U.S.$5000 and the photo will be published in the national newspaper Día Mundial del Turismo on September 27. The second place will receive U.S.$3000 and the third U.S.$1,500.
