Colombia news - El Loco Barrera

Colombian authorities say they arrested a alleged close ally of “El Loco Barrera,” one of Colombia’s most-sought drug lords.

According to the authorities, the arrest of Carlos Fernando Serralde Plaza, alias “El Doctor,” is the latest in a series of arrest that have left 80% of Daniel “El Loco” Barrera’s personal security detail behind bars.

El Loco Barrera saw recently his mother, brother, other relatives, and close allies being arrested.

The arrest of El Doctor took place in a joint-operation with the DEA and Interpol. The suspect is accused of trafficking drugs to the United States and has a long history of ties to paramilitary drug lords like Vicente Castaño and “Don Berna.”

Police did not rule out that Serralde is related to the $28 million seized this week in Bogota, which police had previously said might be connected to the Mexican cartel of drug lord “La Barbie.”
