Colombian police forces have captured Pedro Luis Gonzalez, alias “Genaro,” second in command of the FARC column “Teofilo Forero,” according to Minister of Defense Rodrigo Rivera.
Rivera stated that the guerrilla leader was arrested by the Gaula, an elite police unit in a rural part of the Algeciras municipality, Huila department, which served as Genaro’s center of operations, Terra.com reported Thursday.
The minister also said that Genaro is very close to alias “El Paisa,” commander of the “Teofilo Forero” column, and that he is implicated in the assassination of former Huila governor Jaime Lozada Perdomo, as well as attacks against former Neiva Mayor Cielo Gonzalez Villa.
According to Caracol Radio, the FARC leader is also responsible for plotting the kidnapping of former Senator Jorge Eduardo Gechem Turbay.
