Authorities analyze 9 billion files on ‘Mono Jojoy’ computers

Colombian police authorities announced Tuesday According to W Radio, the National Police and Prosecutor General’s Office has a team of 48 investigators working day and night on the files.

On Saturday, national police commander General Oscar Naranjo said that the analysis of the files could take months, because of the large amount of data.

According to President Juan Manuel Santos, the confiscated computers and USB cards will provide the military with valuable information about the guerrilla organization.

In 2008 the governement found computer files in the camp of deceased FARC commander “Raul Reyes” after the rebel died in a government air strike. According to Colombian authorities, these files contained much useful information, implicating figures such as Senator Piedad Cordoba, as well as the Ecuadorean government and former Panamanian presidents in dealings with the guerrilla group.
