Augustus producer prices fall 0.53% on month: DANE

Colombia’s producer prices dropped 0.53% in August, as price declines in mining and agriculture goods dragged down the producer prices index, the national statistics department, or DANE, said.

The prices of mining goods fell 2.08%, while those of agriculture goods fell 0.63%. Industry prices declined 0.39%, DANE said.

Producer prices had declined 0.61% in July. Prices are up 2.42% over the first eight months of the year and up 1.99% in the 12 months through August.

Prices of goods produced and consumed in Colombia declined 0.35% in August, while those of imported goods fell 1.31%.

The country’s producer prices fell 0.70% in August 2009 and 2.19% for all of 2009.
