Army starts offensive against ‘Cuchillo’

The Colombian army Friday said it had started an offensive to weaken
the organization of ‘Cuchillo’, one of the country’s biggest
drug lords after the capture of ‘Don Mario’.

Talking to Caracol Radio, 4th Division commander Luis Alfonso Zapata said troops had been successful in the persecution of  Pedro Oliveiro ‘Cuchillo’ Guerrero and are massively occupying territory in the Meta department, where the armed forces suspect the drug lord to be.

According to the army commander, the cocaine coming from the Meta department is of a lower quality, which would be a sign that ‘Cuchillo’ is rushing to cash in on the illicit crops to finance his military machine.
