Army to air official documentary on ‘Operation Jaque’

An official Colombian army documentary about Operation Jaque will air
nationally Thursday to commemorate the one year anniversary of the operation’s successful liberation of 15 FARC hostages.

‘Soldiers without Shields’ will show footage of the planning and execution of what Armed Forces Commander Freddy Padilla de Leon called Colombia’s most successful military operation ever.

The documentary will also include testimony of the officials who participated in the operation.

‘Soldiers without Shields’ will air on both pay and free to air television simultaneously around Colombia.

July 2 is exactly one year after the release of French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt, three U.S. military contractors and eleven members of the Colombian armed forces.

Betancourt is currently in France and the Americans in the U.S. The eleven security officials returned to the place where the army picked them up Tuesday to celebrate their year-long regained freedom.
