Army destroys FARC training camp

by Kirsten Begg May 22, 2009

A FARC training camp used to teach guerrillas how to use explosives was found and destroyed 30 kilometers south of Buenaventura in southern Colombia, the army announced.

Four wooden structures with the capacity to house 30 people, 36 kilos of gunpowder, 200 kilos of Anfo, a 40 pound cylinder, three 100 pound cylinders, 15 gallons of ether, 14 batteries, 45 kilos of shrapnel, 250 barrels were discovered at the camp.

Army investigations suggest that the guerrillas were training for terrorist attacks on Cali and Buenaventura., according to El Espectador.

The army said they believe the camp was owned and run by ‘El Negro Juancho’, who was captured last March.
