The Colombian army denies earlier reports that the explosives found in
Huila were meant for an assassination attempt on Cambio Radical leader
and presidential hopeful Germán Vargas Lleras.

Huila authorities said Wednesday they had foiled an assassination attempt on Vargas Lleras. The politician was supposed to be
killed by a 40-kilo roadside bomb, they said.

The army now states the explosives were found far away from the location of the Cambio Radical leader.

Vargas Lleras is on a political tour through the Huila Department.
