Army confirms death of 8 FARC guerrillas in bombing

Colombia’s Armed Forces confirmed the death of eight FARC guerrillas in a bombing of a FARC camp on Thursday. Media earlier reported 30 to 40 fatalities. One of the killed guerrillas is ‘Jeronimo’, a rebel close to supreme commander ‘Alfonso Cano’.

According to Armed Forces commander General Freddy Padila, the army had been able to inspect the site in the south of the Tolima department where the Air Force bombed a FARC camp. In the camp soldier found the remains of eight guerrillas, including that of ‘Jeronimo’.

On Friday, several media reported more than 30 guerrillas had died in the camp.
