Army claims death FARC financial leader

The Colombian army claims to have killed one of the FARC’s financial heads and four of his bodyguards in combat.

According to colonel José Dumar Giraldo, commander of the army’s 6th brigade, Pablo Darío Malambo, also know as ‘the Tiger’, was killed in clashes between the army and the FARC’s mobile column ‘Heroes of Marquetalia’ in the central Colombian Tolima department.

‘The Tiger’ allegedly was in charge of the finances of the ‘Heroes of Marquetalia’ column and accused of having ordered the murder of a Tolima candidate mayor and his son in October 2007.
