Army captures prominent FARC guerrilla

The special forces of the Colombian army captured a FARC guerrilla ‘Ricardo Emisora’ Sunday. He is believed to be the successor to ‘Negro Antonio’, also captured recently.

Barbosa was captured following a confrontation between 51st front of the FARC and the army in a site known as ‘Lagunitas’ in the municipality of Cabrera, in the central department of Cundinamarca.

Six other guerrillas were captured along with ‘Ricardo Emisora’.

Authorities had offered 200 million pesos for information leading to the guerrilla leader’s capture.

According to the army, they had been following the trail of ‘Ricardo Emisora’ since he had been assigned to the zone to replace ‘Negro Antonio’.
