Army captures ‘Cuchillo’s’ #2

The Colombian army captured the second-in-command to paramilitary drug lord “El Cuchillo,” who is one of the country’s most wanted fugitives, reports Caracol Radio.

The 8th Brigade of the army’s 18th Division nabbed Jose Manuel Capera Oyola, alias “Nube Negra,” in the town of Arauca in the Vichada department.

Investigators, who had been tracking Nube Negra for over a year, say that the paramilitary fighter was planning an attack when he was captured.

Nube Negra demobilized as a member of the AUC in April 2006, but has continued to be part of criminal gangs. He was wanted by the Colombian authorities for terrorism, murder, kidnapping and extortion.

Colombian authorities are closing in on El Cuchillo, as this latest capture follows the arrests of the gang’s “financial muscle” in October, and its chief hitman in August.
