Colombia’s army Wednesday asked Colombians to forget about soldiers
murdering civilians and to appreciate the efforts of the soldiers to
restore security in the country.
“The ‘false positive’ cases are part of the past, we have to look ahead. We have to value what the army achieved in matters of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and that soldiers give their lives for the welfare of our country,” General Carlos Suarez said during the launch of the campaign ‘Heroes do exist in Colombia’.
Starting from today, the military broadcasts commercials in private, regional and institutional TV channels to improve the image of the army.
More than a thousand members of the armed forces are suspected of having murdered civilians to make the war against illegal armed groups look more effective and receive rewards.
