An army inspector has announced that illegal armed groups are being investigated in connection with the murder of three children in the department Arauca, reports Caracol.
General William Perez would not release the name of the groups being investigated, and also indicated that other citizens of the area could have had a role. He added that all those responsible for the crime have not yet been found. Lieutenant Raul Muñoz Linares is currently being held after admitting to raping two girls in Tame.
Linares, of the army’s mobile 5th brigade, is under investigation for his involvement in the rape and murder of Yenni Torres Jaimes,13, and the murders of her two brothers, Jimmy Ferney, 9, and Yovani Jefferson, 6. Seven military officers have been suspended over the murder of the three siblings who were found with signs of torture four days after they disappeared on October 14 in a mass grave, 100 meters from where the soldiers are based. The officers are accused of failing to control the men under their command.
On Wednesday, DNA tests on traces of a substance found on seven members of the military in the Arauca department found that it was not blood from three children murdered in October.
The father of the killed minors, Jose Alvaro Torres, said in an official statement that he will not forgive or forget what happened to his children and that he demands justice.
