Argentine leftists to pay tribute to ‘Mono Jojoy’

Colombia news - MCB

Leftist organizations in Argentina plan to pay tribute to slain FARC commander “Mono Jojoy” on Friday.

The meeting is organized by the Bolivarian Continental Movement (BCM), a Caracas-based political organization with ties to Colombian guerrillas.

According to a press release, “voices of protest and rejection over the assassination sound worldwide.”

The Argentine chapter of the BCM is organizing the tribute to show its solidarity with the FARC, Colombia’s second largest guerrilla group the ELN, and with “the entire popular movement that is fiercely repressed with mass disappearances, torture, chainsaws, mass graves, and false positives.”

“Mono Jojoy” was killed last week when Colombian armed forces bombed his jungle camp. He was the FARC’s military commander and thought to be second-in-command of the organization, considered a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union.
