‘Any coach would want Falcao’: Chelsea boss

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo on Friday gave the biggest indication yet that he is interested in signing Radamel Falcao after he spoke of his great admiration for the Colombian superstar.

Rumors that Falcao may join the English Premier League giants abound as his reputation as one of the best strikers in the world continues to grow.

Di Matteo witnessed first-hand the destruction “El Tigre” can cause after the Colombian star hit a remarkable hat-trick against the London side in the UEFA Super Cup at the beginning of the season.

“He is probably one of the best strikers in European and world socer. Any coach asked would have him in the squad,” said Di Matteo.

It is believed that a move for the Atletico Madrid front man would cost the Blues up to $75 million and would also beg the question as to what would happen to Fernando Torres, who is currently Chelsea’s main striker.

Defender David Luiz echoed his manager’s sentiments regarding Falcao, announcing that he too would like to see the 26-year old in the blue shirt of Chelsea.

Luiz lined up against Falcao during Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Colombia on Wednesday and afterwards said Falcao “would fit perfectly into [Chelsea’s] squad.”

“We would all be happy [if he signed] because Falcao would undoubtedly be a great player for our team…He is very difficult to stop. He is an excellent striker,” said Luiz.

Atletico Madrid previously indicated that they would be willing to offload Falcao to help solve some of their crippling debt.
