Anonymous cancels attack on Colombian electoral authorities

The Colombian branch of hacker collective Anonymous announced Sunday it has canceled a planned attack on the National Electoral Council after protests.

The hackers had announced the attack on Saturday, but said Sunday morning they had canceled the operation, because “when the people says NO it is NO. We only inform, you decide,” Anonymous Colombia said on its Twitter page.

According to the group, their attack was not canceled “because of fear. We will not attack because we respect the decision of the majority.”

On Saturday, the website of teh NGO Electoral Observation Mission was attacked and shut down by hackers. According to Anonymous, the group ColombianHackers was responsible for this.
