Announcer lobbying for life sentence for child molesters and murders attacked

A journalist lobbying in favor of a referendum giving life sentences
for those who molest and kill children in Colombia was attacked by an
armed man who told her to leave her house and burn the list of
signatures.

The attack on activist radio announcer Michelle Muñoz in Puerto Asís in Putumayo department comes six days after she received a threatening phone call about her efforts, reports RCN Radio.

Several lawmakers, politicians and spokesmen for various sectors of the country, including general prosecutor Mario Iguarán, have promoted the referendum for a constitutional reform to include life sentences for rapists, kidnappers and murderers of children.
