Angry customer bites off electrician’s ear

by Katharina Wecker May 21, 2009

An angry customer bit off the ear of an electrician in Barranquilla
after realizing that the electricity company Electricaribe suspended
its service due to the man’s outstanding debts to the company.

The victim, Johnny Hurtado, told newspaper El Tiempo that the angry customer chased and attacked him after he cut off the electricity. When Hurtado tried to defend himself, the assailant bit off half of his ear.

Neighbors saw the fight, joined it and injured lightly two other electricians, Charles Padilla and Hernando Suarez.

Hurtado is being treated in a hospital. His colleagues only suffered bruises.

The identity of the attacker is not known, but nearby residents say that he lost his mother two days ago.

No more than a week ago, a five-year-old girl in the nearby Tolu lost her ear when a donkey took a bite at it.
