Amusement park accident leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

An amusement park accident in Boyaca, northeast of Colombia’s capital Bogota, has left one person dead and two injured, news source Terra.com reported Monday.

A car carrying three people fell off the tracks at a high point on a ride at the Periquera Ecological Park. The two injured, one of whom was a minor, were taken to the San Rafael de Tunja Hospital.

According to Civil Defense volunteers the accident occurred at a point where the ride dropped sharply. It is likely that the cable carrying the car snapped due to a mechanical malfunction, though authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause.

Information regarding the condition of the two injured has not been released.
