Venezuelan Arthur García won the fifth stage in the Vuelta a Colombia,
becoming the first non-colombian to be victorious in this year’s
edition of the race.
The Lotería del Táchira rider finished first after a relatively flat stage from Guacarí and Cartago over 146 kilometers.
García also takes the lead in the general classification, at the expense of Fabio Duarte. The man in Red suffered two punctures in this stage and consequently lost close to eight minutes.
Action continues on Friday, with a much more mountaneous course from Santa Rosa de Cabal to Sabaneta, not far from Medellín. It is expected that general classification contenders show their faces in this stage.
