Vice president rushed to hospital

Colombian Vice President Angelino Garzon was rushed to hospital Monday morning with chest pains but did not suffer a heart attack, despite media reports to the contrary.

Garzon left his house of his own accord at 5.30AM Monday and went to a clinic, where he was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Colombian Health Secretary Hector Zambrano told W Radio that doctors had ruled out fears that Garzon had suffered a heart attack.

Garzon was sworn in as vice president alongside Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos in a Bogota ceremony attended by 5,000 people, including heads of state such as Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa.
