Venezuela to reappoint ambassador to Colombia

The Colombian government said on Thursday that
Venezuela would reappoint an ambassador to Colombia in the coming days. 

Colombian Foreign Minister Jaime Bermúdez said that he expects the arrival of the ambassador next week and hailed the Venezuelan move as an opportunity to improve bilateral ties.

“We wait for him with open arms to advance a new management as the one we have done,” Bermúdez told a local TV station.

Colombian President Álvaro Uribe met his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chávez in Caracas on Tuesday to concrete agreements between the two countries and enhance bilateral commercial exchanges.

Venezuela recalled its ambassador to Colombia in 2008 amid a regional crisis. (Xinhua)
