Train crash kills 4 in north Colombia

A train crash in the north of Colombia has left at least four people dead, local media report.

The head-on collision took place Sunday evening between the towns of Guamachito and Sevilla in the Magdalena department.

Authorities blame the crash on a breakdown of communication relating to the two trains’ handling, resulting in both of them travelling on the same line but in opposite directions.

Magdalena Police Chief, Colonel Cesar Granados Abaunza, told RCN Radio that they are now investigating the exact cause of the accident and specialist teams were sent to the scene searching for any further casualties.
