Tourist dies on bungee jump

Adventure turned to tragedy Tuesday when a bungee cord snapped on the Miraflores bridge in central Colombia, killing a tourist.

“At that moment you heard a silence super ugly, and this bridge became hell as organizers ran down the bridge to assist him. Everyone started to scream, I called an ambulance that never arrived,” said on-looker, Diego Carrizosa, to Caracol Radio.

Details are yet to be provided as to the identity of the person killed.

The witness also said that there were four bungee jumping companies on the bridge and none of them had the necessary security to oversee extreme sports.

The bridge where the accident took place connects the municipalities of Gama and Gachala in the central department of Cundinamarca and is listed on the website for the municipality of Gachala as a tourist destination.

Neither municipality is taking responsibility for the accident, reported Caracol.
