The suspected killer of 14 police officers in the southern Colombian department of Caqueta last September has been captured in a raid, Colombian media reported Tuesday.
The alleged murderer, alias “Polania” was arrested in a military raid on a southeastern block of the left-wing guerrilla organization FARC, President Juan Manuel Santos announced, congratulating the armed forces on the successful operation.
According to the president, Polania is responsible for a September 1, 2010 roadside attack on a group of officers traveling between the Rionegro and Doncello municipalities.
The officers were traveling in a five-vehicle patrol when they drove over a landmine, the police reported. The guerrillas then shot at the officers and set the vehicles on fire.
