Colombia’s former police chief formally investigated over prostitution ring

Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s Office formally opened a criminal investigation against the country’s recently resigned National Police chief for his alleged involvement in a police-run gay prostitution ring.

The alleged “Community of the Ring” is or was a mysterious prostitution rings ran from within the police.

According to a number of former cadets at the General Santander Police Academy, top police officials and congressmen used the sexual services of police cadets.

According to a number of the country’s most prominent journalists, the directorate of the National Police tried to prevent the sex and prostitution scandals to come out by wiretapping their communication and shadowing their moves.

Following months of allegations, the leaking of a video in which now-former Vice-Minister of the Interior spurred the immediate resignation of the vice-Minister of the Interior, Carlos Ferro, after which Palomino also quit.



The involved police captain claims he was drugged and raped by members of the ring.

Colombia’s defense minister has already admitted to the existence of the prostitution ring.

Palomino is also facing additional charges for the alleged sexual harassment of a subordinate.
