Colombian rock legend Juanes told local media Monday that U.S. music festival South by Southwest had changed his life.
The superstar ended his trip to the international music event in Austin, Texas, with a concert Friday night, meaning he missed Eminem and 50 Cent’s show across town. It was the only disappointment in what he described as the “greatest experience of my life.”
Juanes, known for his “social music” and his charitable activities, gave an interview Thursday with “PEACE” across his chest and gratitude in his heart.
“I’m so happy and so thankful. It’s changing my life. I just feel it. It’s inspiring me, and that’s the best,” the singer said.
The megastar, who’s gushed about SXSW’s ability to break down cultural barriers. “I just see music and culture and art in general as a great idea to change at least our own environment and just connect people to the music,” he said.
Much like last month’s UFO sighting, the music festival prompted philosophical reflection for the singer, “You just have the opportunity to connect with somebody else you didn’t know, and that’s good.”
This transcendent week could influence the material for the singer’s upcoming “MTV Unplugged” album, due out May 27. “Somehow it will bring me back to the essence, to the roots, to the music. No marketing, no nothing. Just music.”
