Soler finishes sixth in Tour of Italy stage 10

Colombian cyclist Mauricio Soler finished sixth in the tenth stage of
the Tour of Italy, just 29 seconds ahead of stage winner and race
leader Danilo Di Luca.

On the tenth day of the ‘Giro d’Italia’, the remaining riders completed a 262km stage from Cuneo to Pinerolo.

Di Luca, riding for Italian team LPR Brakes, did well to defend his leader’s jersey with a first-place finish ahead of fellow countryman Franco Pellizotti of Liquigas. Russian Denis Menchov came in third.

Mauricio Soler, representing Team Barloworld, managed to arrive with the best and eventually took sixth place. To do so, the Colombian needed to finish ahead of well known riders such as Ivan Basso and Lance Armstrong.

Soler is also the best Colombian rider in the general classification, occupying the 21st spot at just over six minutes from Di Luca. Jose Serpa is 30th, Félix Cárdenas 35th and Mauricio Ardila is to be found in 51st place.
