Sofia Vergara to be immortalized at Madame Tussauds

The Madame Tussauds museum in New York will unveil not one, but two waxwork figures of Colombia’s curvy actress Sofia Vergara Tuesday.

The world-famous waxworks, Madame Tussauds, will initially present both wax sculptures of Vergara at the museum in New York, however, they will later be displayed individually, with plans to transfer one of the figures Madame Tussauds, Las Vegas.

“We are very excited about Sofia Vergara’s arrival at Madame Tussauds,” said Janine DiGioacchino, the Divisional Director of Madame Tussauds. “She has become one of the most recognized and popular talents in the world and we know her fans and our visitors will love her figures.”

According to Madame Tussauds, the Modern Family actress was an “enthusiastic participant in the creation of her original wax figures”, which involved a team of studio artists taking precise measurements to ensure the waxwork matched her “style, exactly eye color, posture and signature hair” and took four months to complete.

Vergara donated her own previously-worn outfits to the project and the New York figure will wear “a silver embroidered illusion column dress with a pleated tulled bodice by Marchesa.” The Las Vegas sculpture will be style as Vergara’s character Gloria from the hit US show Modern Family in a” leopard print and black figure-hugging dress” which she wore for the Season 3 promo photos for Modern Family.

The Barranquilla beauty will join a host of high-profile public figures including President Barrack Obama, Madonna and Oprah Winfrey, who all have waxworks on display in New York or Las Vegas.
