Shakira publishes Dora the Explorer children’s book

The Barranquilla pop-star Shakira published her first children’s book “World School Day Adventure,” El Tiempo reports on Thursday.

The book, part of Nickelodeon’s “Dora the Explorer” series, tells the story of Dora and her companion Boots who deliver school supplies to those schools that do not have them.

Shakira wants “the children from all over the world to know that through knowledge and education one can embark on great adventures.”

“Dora is an inspiration for all children in the world. It was an honor working with Nickelodeon to write this story as education is a cause very close to my heart,” the Colombian singer added.

“Working with Shakira to create an educational and enriching story has been an extraordinary experience,” Paula Allen from Nickelodeon said.

A percentage of the royalties will go to Shakira’s Pies Descalzos Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of children.
