Santos praises progress in prosecution extrajudicial executions

Colombian vice-President Francisco Santos Friday praised progress
made in the prosecution of members of the Armed Forces who are
suspected of murdering civilians.

According to the vice-President, 300 members of the military now have a pending arrest warrant against them and more than 500 investigations are being carried out into the alleged extrajudicial killings of civilians.

The number is significantly lower than that of the Prosecutor General’s Office that recently revealed more than a thousand members of Colombia’s military are investigated for the murder of at least 1,600 civilians.
