Santos orders intervention at Fondelibertad

 

Fondeliberdad director resigned Thursday and Santos ordered government intervention Friday in Fondeliberdad due allegations of corruption in the organization, reports Semana and Caracol Rado.

Fondelibertad, a government body in charge of dealing with the issue of kidnapping, has been under investigation by the Ministry of Defense who described the organization as “waste of resources” and an “administrative inefficiency,” reports Caracol Rado.

Henao, who was accused of signing contracts with friends and relatives andwasting resources, resigned Thursday citing personal reasons.

The Ministry of Defense is currently debating the possibility of liquidating Fondelibertad.
