Rock al Parque 2008, loud and big

Rock Al Parque, Colombia’s biggest music festival, will take place the
first three days of November, hosting over 50 bands and expecting more
than 400,000 visitors. That is, if a hailstorm doesn’t ruin it.

Because that’s what happened last year. Tens of thousands of music lovers weren’t able to attend the last day of the festival, because — imagine — a massive hailstorm made the last day impossible and the day had to be postponed.

If this year’s incredibly strange weather doesn’t spoil it, Bogotá may prepare itself for the biggest party of the year. It’s held in the city’s largest park and has increasingly drawn rockers from all around the country to the capital.

What started as a local festival to promote local youth culture has grown to an immense festival with bands from all parts of the world, representing many types of music. Do prepare yourself for a large number of metal bands.

Absolute international headliners this year are Bloc Party, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sergent Garcia, Paradise Lost and Carcass.
