Police seize $86m in narco property

Colombian policed announced Monday the seizure of 424 properties belonging to drug traffickers, worth more than $86 million, in an operation spanning four of the country’s departments.

Colonel Jaime Vega, subdirector of DIJIN, the judicial police, told W Radio that the properties were in the names of frontmen but belong to Guillermo Franco and Milton Baez, who are thought to be linked to alleged narco-trafficking brothers Ignacio and Raul Gaitan.

According to Vega, the seized properties were bought with drug money. The operation was carried out in the Cundinamarca, Meta, Boyaca and Vichada departments. No arrests were made.
