Police arrest donkey-bomb perpetrator

Colombian police in Maicao, in Colombia’s north-east La Guajira department, arrested the perpetrator of the “donkey-bombing,” which killed eleven policemen in the northern Sucre department in 1996, reports CM&.

Cesar David Villalobos Cadena, a former guerrilla of the FARC’s 35th front, was arrested after a tip-off to police, when he tried to board a bus in the border town of Maicao. Authorites are attempting to ascertain if he was destined for Venezuela.

Villalobos Cadena will be charged with rebellion, terrorism and extortion.

When arrested he admitted that he was responsible for the donkey-bomb, and added that he himself was a victim of the attack, in which he lost several fingers.
