Peso drops after world markets sink

Colombia’s
peso weakened 2.7 percent to 2,362 per dollar, from 2,299.45
yesterday, according to the Colombian foreign-exchange
electronic transactions system, known as SET-FX. 

The yield on Colombia’s benchmark 11 percent bonds due in
July 2020 rose 38 basis points, or 0.38 percentage point, to
13.1 percent.

The price on Colombia’s futures contract for a
basket of fixed-rate peso bonds for December 2008 delivery fell
0.231 centavo to 90.1 centavos per peso from 90.331 on Oct. 16,
according to Colombia’s stock exchange.
