Pablo Escobar’s sister plugs new book

In an interview with W Radio, Alba Maria Escobar, the sister of the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, promoted a new book she has written on her brother, which she calls a homage to the “good Pablo,” who she claims “democratized money” in Colombia.

Alba Maria, who claims she begged her brother many times to quit the drug trade and seek a treaty with the government, said she wrote the book to illustrate the “good things” about Pablo, because he is always portrayed “as the world’s biggest monster.”

She denied that Pablo was responsible for the 1989 bombing of Avianca Airlines flight 203, which has been declared a crime against humanity. The Medellin cartel, led by Pablo, claimed responsibility for the bombing, in which all 107 people aboard the flight died.

According to Alba Maria, Pablo was a “good father, good friend and the guy who democratized money in Colombia.”

Alba Maria also claimed that all the money that Pablo made through the drug trade was not for him but to help Colombia’s poor, in particular the people from the suburb where he grew up.

The author described her book, whose title is yet to be revealed, as “a homage of a sister to her brother, but it is also the story of the bad things that happened, those which Pablo did, but also those which others did. In Colombia everything bad has one one name: Pablo Escobar, and it wasn’t like that.”
