The tours, organized by travel agency Yusuru and sponsored by private companies Chevron and Ecopetrol Colombia, will allow tourists to more easily access one of the country’s most untouched locations.
Yusuru’s tours will run from La Guajira’s capital of Riohacha, taking tourists to the region’s most beautiful locations and end in El Pajaro – home to Colombia’s indigenous Wayuu community. Tour guides will be recount the history of the region and its people.
Participants can go whale spotting in the Carribean sea, bird watch in the El Pajaro lagoon and experience traditional Wayuu culture. The community will hold cultural exhibitions and an artisan fair to sell their crafts. Tourists can also chose to spend the night with the Wayuu village, for a more complete experience.
