A new book celebrating the journalistic work of literary giant Gabriel Garcia Marquez will be released in Colombia on December 10.
The book, titled “Gabo Periodista” (Gabo Journalist) is a collection of Marquez’s best reports, features and columns as well as a detailed biography and rare photos of the author.
The 512-page tome was compiled by the New Iberoamerican Journalism Foundation, a group with the aim of unifying journalists from all the countries that were once part of the Spanish Empire.
The Foundation described it as, “A book that explores the lesser known side of the well known author Gabriel Garcia Marquez as a journalist and educator.”
The foundation claimed the work is, “of high historical and educational value” going on to say that “this book is intended to facilitate access to the best writings of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s journalism, trying to put them in their proper place, closely intertwined with his best novels and short stories.”
The book will go on sale in the U.S. from 2013 pending agreements with sponsors and publishers.
