New Colombia action film due out in August (trailer)

A new Colombian action film called “La Lectora,” or “The Reader,” will hit theaters August 17, El Espectador newspaper reported Wednesday.

Directed by Riccardo Gabrielli, the movie’s trailer starts when a kidnapped woman, played by actress Carolina Guerra, translates an old German manuscript for her kidnappers, leading them all on the search for a mysterious briefcase. The trailer promises shootouts and stripper scenes and ends with Guerra breathily intoning, “that briefcase is cursed.”

La Lectora will “develop and construct special new action-sequence platforms that will be used for the first time in Colombia,” Gabrielli told the news site La Fiscalia.
