Spaniard Rafael Nafal, the number one tennis player in the world, beat the world’s number two, the Serbian Novak Djokovic Monday at an exhibition match in Bogota.
Nadal needed two sets (7-6, 6-3) to revenge his defeat against Djokovic at Indian Wells a day earlier.
It was the first time in the history of the country that tennis players of this caliber played a match on Colombian soil.
Some 14,000 tennis fans had come to the capital’s El Campin stadium and were treated with some “sizzling tennis” and “stunning rallies from the back and front of the court” as ESPN put it.
Before the match, Nadal treated the crowd on a little salsa-dancing demonstration with one of the women in the audience.
