Miss Colombia told to ‘put her batteries in’

Miss Colombia has been slated by Colombian beauty pageant royalty for her lacklustre performance thus far, according to Colombian gossip site Sweet.

Only 20 days into her tenure, poor Miss Colombia Daniella Alvarez has been attacked from all sides for failing to live up to her promise.

First, Diego Guarnizo — head honcho of Colombia’s homegrown National Beauty Contest (NBC), held annually in Cartegena — publicly slated the beauty at a live event, claiming she “lacked the attitude of a queen”.

Though this could arguably be viewed as a positive thing, Diego stormed on, telling Daniella to “wake up”, that her catwalk strut “left a lot to be desired”, and to “put her batteries in” because as it was, nobody would believe that she was Miss Colombia. Ouch.

Meanwhile, Miss Colombia’s runner-up Melissa Varon took the opportunity to throw in her two cents, casually mentioning that another NBC insider also took issue with Daniella’s “lack of attitude and energy”, and was tired of waiting on the diva, who is making a habit of showing up late.

That the queen and her lady-in-waiting have already descended into mudslinging so early in their year together bodes well for the pages of Colombia Reports Lite. Though on this occasion, unfortunately, Daniella has thus far managed to maintain a dignified silence. Let’s hope she’s just running a little late.
