Culture Minister asks UK to understand Colombia’s armed conflict

Colombian Minister of Culture asks the United Kingdom to “learn more”
about Colombia and to understand the armed conflict with the guerrillas.

Paula Marcela Moreno, Minister of Culture, gave a lecture on cultural diversity at the Canning House, the cultural home of Latin America and Spain, in London.

Moreno said that the difficulties of Latin American countries to attract British investors may be related to cultural differences, Terra.com reported Tuesday.

The image of Colombia is marked by the guerrillas and is, in her opinion, a “stereotype” which needs to be erased by “publicizing the Colombian culture throughout the world”.

“We must understand the history and the reality of a country to understand its problems”, the Minister added.
