Military forces dismantle bomb in southwestern Colombia

Colombia’s 14th Mobile Brigade have defused a bomb found in the town of Caloto in the southwestern department of Cauca, reported local media.

Security forces discovered 22 cylinders which contained over 100lbs. of black powder used for explosives. Two minefields allegedly set up by the FARC’s 6th Front were also found in nearby rural villages.

“Once again the timely action of the troops thwarted a terrorist attack that would have caused a great tragedy and would have left over 4,500 people homeless living in these settlements near the town of Caloto,” said General Jorge Humberto Jerez, commander of the brigade.
