Atlético Nacional are no longer at the bottom of the Colombian Copa
Mustang as local rivals Independiente Medellín are the new red lantern
carriers following a 1-0 defeat at Cúcuta.
The only goal of the match, played at Cúcuta’s General Santander stadium, was scored by Roberto Gamarra in the fourth minute of the second half.
The home side lost a man late on as Charles Castro conceded a second yellow card, but didn’t have their narrow lead threatened by a shockingly weak Medellín side.
With just two games to go in the regular season, DIM are now in last place at one point from Nacional, making the season nothing less than disastrous to Medellín football.
Each calendar year features two editions of the Copa Mustang. The team that performs worst over these two editions, gets relegated to a lower league.
