Large quantity of explosives seized in western Colombia

Colombian authorities have seized a haul of explosives, some allegedly belonging to the FARC, while carrying out operations in the western Colombian department of Valle del Cauca, Caracol Radio reported Monday.

One person was caught during the two operations that occurred in the Valle del Cauca municipalities of Dagua and Mediacanoa.

In Dagua, authorities seized six explosives, each weighing around 12 kilos, which apparently belonged to the FARC.

Colombian forces also caught 153 smaller explosives in Mediacanoa, which have been linked to illegal mining in the department and its neighboring department of Cauca.
